In the 1870s, the mining town of Bodie was both a “fearfully and wonderfully bad place” and a town of hard-working pioneers. Mark Twain once remarked that in Bodie virtue versus vice made for exciting times.
Enjoy the haunting, evocative images of Bodie by fine art photographer Will Furman in the newly published book Bodie: Good Times & Bad written by Nicholas Clapp which the late Kevin Starr, former State Librarian of California, called “magnificent.”
